User Agreement

Last updated: September 2026

This User Agreement ("Agreement") is a complete statement of the terms governing your use of "I'm a Student" (the "app"), including all of its current features: study session tracking, the weekly leaderboard, the Results section (board servers, Teletalk, results server, SMS instructions, and XI admission), your profile, and account management. By creating an account, you agree to these terms in full.

On this page

1. The service

In short: it's a free app, offered as-is, with no promise it'll always be online or bug-free.

The app lets you track study sessions with a timer, view your stats (daily, weekly, monthly, and lifetime study time), compete on a weekly leaderboard, and access exam result and admission-related links and tools through the Results section. It is provided as a free, best-effort service without any guarantee of uptime, availability, or error-free operation.

2. Your account

In short: keep your password safe, give real information, and remember your email and password are needed to recover access.

3. One device, up to four accounts

In short: each phone can only be used to create up to 4 accounts, checked automatically using your device's Android ID. Trying to create a 5th will be blocked.

To protect the fairness of the leaderboard and prevent abuse, the app limits each physical device to a maximum of four (4) registered accounts, identified using the device's Android ID. If you attempt to create an account on a device that has already reached this limit, the sign-up will be blocked (including reversing any account creation already in progress) and you will be shown a message indicating the limit has been reached. You will need to use one of your existing accounts on that device, or sign up from a different device.

4. The study timer and background operation

In short: starting a timer keeps running in the background, even with the app minimized or your screen locked, and shows a notification the whole time. If you're inactive too long, we'll check in and may auto-stop the timer.

When you start a study session, the app uses a background (foreground) service so your session keeps running accurately even if you switch apps or lock your phone. A notification is shown for the entire duration of an active session, from which you can also stop it directly.

To prevent a session being left running by mistake (for example, overnight), the app will periodically check whether you're still studying. If you don't respond, or if a single session runs for an unusually long continuous stretch, it will be automatically stopped.

5. Anti-cheat and accurate timekeeping

In short: don't mess with your phone's clock to fake study time — we check for that, and it can affect your recorded time or your account standing.

You agree not to manipulate your device's date or time settings, or otherwise attempt to falsify the duration of a study session. The app periodically verifies your device's clock against server time; sessions with a significant, unexplained discrepancy may have their recorded duration adjusted, be flagged, or otherwise affect your account, at the administrator's discretion (see Section 10).

6. The leaderboard

In short: your nickname and study time may show up on a public-to-users leaderboard. Play fair — gaming it can get your account suspended.

The weekly leaderboard ranks students by total recorded study time and may display your nickname and study time to other students using the app (see the Privacy Policy, Section 3, for exactly what is and isn't shown). Attempting to manipulate your position on the leaderboard through falsified sessions, multiple accounts, or clock tampering is a violation of this Agreement.

7. Results section: boards, Teletalk, results server, SMS, and XI admission

In short: these open real government/board websites inside the app (not the results themselves), or help you write an SMS to send yourself. We don't run those outside services and can't guarantee they're always right or online.

The Results section provides convenient, in-app access to:

All of the above (except SMS) are opened using an in-app browser labeled "© Student App," so you don't have to leave the app or use a separate browser. These destinations are official third-party and government websites that we do not own, operate, or control. We do our best to keep these links accurate and working, but we cannot guarantee their availability, accuracy, or content, and you should always verify official results directly with the relevant board or authority. If a page does not load within a few seconds, the app will let you know rather than leaving you on a blank screen.

8. Offline use

In short: you can start and stop the timer without internet — it's saved on your phone and uploaded automatically once you're back online. Some things (like the leaderboard or Results links) need internet to load.

Core study-timer functionality (starting, running, and stopping a session) works without an internet connection; your session is saved on your device and automatically synced to your account the next time the app has internet access. Features that require live data — such as the leaderboard, Results section links, and account sign-in — require an internet connection.

9. Acceptable use

In short: don't cheat the timer, don't make fake accounts, don't misuse the app or attack our systems.

You agree not to:

10. Administrator authority

In short: the admin can ban, suspend, or delete any account — or shut down or restrict the whole app — at any time, for any reason, without warning. This is the most important section of this Agreement.

You acknowledge and agree that the app's administrator(s), operating through the separate administrator application, reserve the right, at their sole discretion and at any time, to:

You agree that the administrator is not obligated to provide advance warning, a stated reason, or an appeal process for any of the above actions, though they may choose to do so at their discretion.

11. Changes to the app, and taking it offline

In short: if the app shows an "under maintenance" or "discontinued" message, that's expected behavior, not a bug — it means the administrator has intentionally paused or ended the service.

The app checks its operating status every time it is opened, before you sign in. If the administrator has set the app to "under maintenance," you will see an explanatory message and must exit the app; core functionality will be unavailable until the status is reverted to normal. If the administrator has set the app to "discontinued," the app will display a message and close automatically. Neither state indicates data loss on its own — your account and data remain intact unless separately deleted under Section 10.

12. Account deletion

In short: you can delete your own account anytime from Profile > Settings, but it's permanent and erases your study history too.

You may delete your own account at any time from Profile > Settings > Delete your account. This requires re-entering your password and typing a one-time confirmation code shown on screen, as safeguards against accidental deletion. Once completed, this permanently removes your profile and your entire study session history, and cannot be undone or recovered — by you or by us.

13. Data and content ownership

In short: your study data is yours, but we need permission to process and display it (like on the leaderboard) for the app to work.

Your study session data and the stats derived from it belong to you. By using the app, you grant us permission to store, process, and display this data as necessary to operate the app's features — including calculating your stats and, where applicable, showing your nickname and study time on the leaderboard (see the Privacy Policy for full details on data handling).

14. No warranty

In short: use the app at your own risk, and always double-check results and admission information on the official board/government website.

The app, including the Results section's third-party links, SMS-format tool, and leaderboard, is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any result, admission information, or other content accessed through third-party or government websites linked from the app; always verify official results and deadlines directly with the relevant education board or authority.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and its administrators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including but not limited to loss of study data, loss of account access, missed results or admission deadlines, or reliance on inaccurate third-party information accessed through the app.

16. Governing terms

This Agreement, together with the Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and the app's administrator(s) regarding your use of the app, and supersedes any prior understanding on the subject.

17. Changes to this Agreement

We may update this Agreement from time to time, including to reflect new or changed features. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

18. Contact

If you have questions about this Agreement, please contact the app administrator through the app.
